10 to 19 yearsThe Weinviertler Museumsdorf Niedersulz - with farms, green meadows and many animals - offers the ideal setting for school excursions and invites you to discover and linger. The Museumsdorf offers students a variety of topics and a broad program.
As part of the age-appropriate programs, the students can get to know the everyday life in a village of the past, actively and with all their senses.

Discover an Old Weinviertler Village!We visit the school, a farm with a barn, the village tavern with the corner shop and a workshop, immersing ourselves in the daily lives of villagers in times past. We discover how labour-intensive life was and how vastly different it was from today – for example, the use of resources then and now. Finally, we build a timber barn.

Why Were There no Rubbish Bins in the Olden Days? (over 14 years)Sustainability is an important topic, especially when there is a climate crisis, but was it something people thought about over 100 years ago? Topics on this tour of the Museumsdorf include avoiding waste and repairing things, regional and seasonal nutrition and the sparing use of resources.

Air-dried Bricks and Walls
Mudbrick Buildings to TouchHow were houses built in the past? How was clay prepared and used? On this programme, students learn interesting facts about the historic building techniques used with this climate-friendly material. They can make their own bricks using the same techniques that were used 100 years ago or put their skills to the test making the clay.

Chickens, Goats, Pigs
Discover the Farm and its Animals!On a typical Weinviertler farm students learn about the importance of animals as draught and pack animals and, of course, as sources of food in times gone by. They can get a taste of what it is like to milk a cow on the milking simulator. On the Living Farm they then have the opportunity to meet our goats, pigs, chickens and donkeys and help feed them.

Cartwheel, Shoe Lasts and Bellows
Discover the old TradesCraftsmen were indispensable members of rural communities as they manufactured and repaired the tools and items people needed in their everyday lives: Without a blacksmith there was no plough, without a wainwright no wheel, without a cobbler no strong shoes. This programme introduces various trades and gives students a basic knowledge of rural craft techniques.

Medicinal Herbs, Spices and Insects
Discover our Fragrant Gardens and their Animal Habitats!How and where did people plant vegetables, herbs and flowers in times past and how did they use them? With the aid of seasonal examples we get to know different plants and their mutualistic relationship with insects. How can I tell where insects live and what kind of habitat they need? To round off, we will make fragrant scent bags.
